Abstract

The rapid urbanization of the 21st century presents unprecedented challenges for sustainable city development, requiring innovative approaches to urban planning and management. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative technology offering sophisticated solutions for creating smarter, more sustainable urban environments. This article examines the current state and future potential of AI applications in sustainable urban planning, exploring how machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI technologies are revolutionizing city design, resource management, and environmental sustainability. Through a comprehensive analysis of recent developments, this study identifies key opportunities and challenges in implementing AI-driven solutions for urban sustainability, while addressing ethical considerations and the importance of human-AI collaboration in shaping future cities.
