Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Duties of Editors
Fair Play and Editorial Independence

Editors at the International Journal of Multidisciplinary Evolutionary Research (IJMER) evaluate submitted manuscripts solely based on their academic merit (importance, originality, methodological soundness, clarity) and their relevance to the multidisciplinary scope of the journal, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, citizenship, religious belief, political philosophy, or institutional affiliation. Decisions to edit and publish are not influenced by external agencies such as governments or funding bodies. The Editor-in-Chief has full authority over the editorial content and the timing of its publication.

Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and other editorial advisers as appropriate. The information related to manuscripts will be treated as confidential and will not be used for personal gain.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Editors and editorial board members must not use unpublished information disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author’s explicit written consent. Privileged information or ideas obtained through handling manuscripts must remain confidential and not be used for personal advantage. Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest and assign the task to another qualified editor.

Publication Decisions
All submitted manuscripts considered for publication are subject to peer-review by at least two independent and qualified reviewers. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which articles are published, based on the manuscript’s quality, originality, reviewer feedback, relevance to IJMER’s scope, and legal considerations such as copyright and plagiarism.

Involvement and Cooperation in Investigations
Editors will take appropriate actions in cases of ethical concerns or complaints, even after publication. The editors follow COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines to address cases of suspected misconduct, including issuing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern as necessary.

Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists editors in making publication decisions and helps authors improve their manuscripts. It is a fundamental aspect of scholarly publishing across all disciplines covered by IJMER.

Promptness
Reviewers who feel unqualified to assess a manuscript or are unable to complete the review in a timely manner should notify the editors promptly to ensure an efficient peer-review process.

Confidentiality
Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown or discussed with others unless authorized by the Editor-in-Chief. This confidentiality applies even if the reviewer declines the invitation.

Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively and constructively, offering clear feedback supported by evidence. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Comments should help improve the clarity, accuracy, and scholarly quality of the manuscript.

Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant work not cited by the authors. If a reviewer is aware of significant similarities between the manuscript under review and another work, they should inform the editors.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers should declare any conflicts of interest that might influence their review and recuse themselves if necessary. They must not use unpublished material disclosed in the manuscript for their own research or personal benefit.

Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards

Authors must present an accurate account of the research performed along with an objective discussion of its significance. Manuscripts should be detailed enough to allow others to replicate the research. Review articles should be comprehensive and balanced, while opinion pieces should be clearly identified as such.

Data Access and Retention
Authors may be asked to provide raw data and should be prepared to make data publicly available when appropriate, ensuring it remains accessible for at least 10 years, subject to privacy and proprietary constraints.

Originality and Plagiarism
Manuscripts must be original. Authors must ensure proper citation of others' work and avoid all forms of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism. All sources that influenced the research should be cited appropriately.

Multiple or Concurrent Publication
Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently is unethical. Authors should not submit work that has been published elsewhere. Duplicate publication is only permissible in exceptional cases and with full transparency and agreement of all involved journals.

Authorship of the Manuscript
Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the research should be listed as authors. All listed authors must approve the final manuscript. Others who contributed should be acknowledged appropriately, with their permission.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could be seen as influencing the manuscript’s content. All funding sources should be clearly stated.

Acknowledgement of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others is essential. Private communications should not be used or published without explicit permission.

Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects
If the research involves hazardous materials or human/animal subjects, appropriate ethical approval and informed consent must be documented in the manuscript.

Peer Review
Authors are expected to engage with the peer review process in good faith. If revisions are requested, authors should respond to reviewer comments point-by-point and resubmit within the specified timeframe.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If authors discover a significant error in their published work, they must notify the journal promptly and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article. If the journal becomes aware of such an issue, authors must respond with evidence or corrections.

Duties of the Publisher
Handling of Unethical Publishing Behaviour

In cases of proven or suspected scientific misconduct (e.g., plagiarism or data fabrication), the International Journal of Multidisciplinary Evolutionary Research publisher will collaborate with editors to investigate and, if needed, correct the record through retraction, correction, or expression of concern. The publisher and editors are committed to maintaining the integrity of the academic record and will take preventive and corrective action when necessary.
