Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

The International Journal of Multidisciplinary Evolutionary Research is firmly committed to preserving the integrity, originality, and quality of scholarly publishing. Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated. This policy outlines the journal’s procedures for preventing, detecting, and addressing plagiarism at all stages of the submission and publication process.

Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism occurs when an author presents someone else’s ideas, data, images, or text as their own, without proper acknowledgment. This includes:

  1. Copying text, figures, tables, or images without appropriate citation.
  2. Using substantial parts of another's work without permission or attribution.
  3. Self-plagiarism: Reusing significant portions of one’s previously published work without referencing the original source.

Plagiarism Detection
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial plagiarism screening using advanced plagiarism detection tools prior to peer review. Manuscripts are evaluated based on the percentage of content overlap with previously published materials.

Handling Plagiarism
Based on the extent of detected plagiarism, the following actions are taken:

  1. Less than 5% Plagiarism: A manuscript ID is assigned, and the author is asked to make minor revisions.
  2. 5% to 15% Plagiarism: The manuscript is not assigned an ID. Authors are required to revise and resubmit after addressing the identified issues.
  3. More than 15% Plagiarism: The manuscript is returned without review. Significant revisions are required, and a fresh submission is necessary after corrections.
  4. More than 30% Plagiarism: The manuscript is immediately rejected. Authors may only resubmit after making extensive and verifiable corrections to ensure originality.

Post-Publication Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected after publication, IJMER will initiate a formal investigation. Based on the findings, the journal may:

  1. Notify the author’s affiliated institution(s) and funding bodies.
  2. Clearly mark the plagiarized content in the published version (PDF).
  3. Issue a retraction notice, if necessary, depending on the severity of the infraction.

Author Responsibility
By submitting a manuscript to IJMER, authors affirm that the content is original, unpublished, and free from plagiarism. Authors must understand and follow ethical citation practices, including proper quotation, paraphrasing, and acknowledgment of all sources. Both intentional and unintentional plagiarism will be treated seriously.

Self-Plagiarism
Self-plagiarism—i.e., reusing one’s own previously published content without citation—is also a violation of ethical standards. If authors reuse material from their own past work, it must be properly referenced. Failure to do so will be treated as plagiarism.

Ethical Commitment to Originality
The International Journal of Multidisciplinary Evolutionary Research upholds a strict originality policy to maintain academic credibility. Authors must submit only their own original work and ensure that all sources are accurately cited. The journal may request clarifications or proof of citation in cases of doubt.

By adhering to this policy, IJMER ensures the integrity of published research and supports a scholarly environment built on trust, transparency, and academic honesty.
