Abstract

The proliferation of digital services across government and private sectors has necessitated robust, secure, and interoperable identity management systems. This study examines the implementation of blockchain-secured digital identity infrastructure at the national level, focusing on its implications for cybersecurity, e-governance, and cross-sector service delivery. Through a comprehensive review of existing implementations and theoretical frameworks, this research analyzes the technical, operational, and policy dimensions of blockchain-based identity systems. The findings reveal that blockchain technology offers significant advantages in terms of security, privacy, transparency, and user control over personal data. However, implementation challenges including scalability, interoperability, regulatory compliance, and digital literacy remain substantial barriers. This study proposes a multi-layered framework for nationwide deployment that addresses these challenges while maximizing the benefits of decentralized identity management. The research contributes to both academic discourse and practical policy formulation by providing empirical evidence and actionable recommendations for governments considering blockchain-based digital identity systems.
