Real-Time Order Visibility for Lead-Time Compression in Global Heavy-Equipment Distribution Networks
Abstract
Incomplete shipping instructions can leave configured industrial equipment waiting after production is complete. This paper develops a real-time order-visibility design and an evaluation protocol for global heavy-equipment distribution. The design places order status, instruction completeness and shipping exceptions in a shared operating view with named response owners. The protocol separates order-entry, production and post-production intervals and specifies outcomes for lead time, reliability, instruction holds, promised-date performance and inquiry workload. Proposed analyses combine descriptive comparisons, interrupted time series and a suitable comparison group, with explicit attention to censoring, seasonality, adoption and spillovers. The six hypotheses remain untested because order-level estimates are not reported. The contribution is a transparent method for investigating whether information readiness reduces post-production waiting without attributing all changes after rollout to the dashboard. Validation requires dated deployment records, consistent timestamp definitions, usage logs and documented concurrent operational changes. The framework can guide a prospective evaluation and prevent unsupported claims of causal or statistical improvement.
